[It] was a wonderful experience. We were warmly greeted by the staff with delicious butterfly pea tea and Stew, the property manager, gave us a friendly run down of the resort and local recommendations. We stayed in the Bamboo Hut — a no-frills room, which is just what we needed before going out on the Overnight Lake Tour early the next morning. The hut’s windows are not completely sealed, so you get the full jungle experience, bugs and all! However we had a mosquito net, so this wasn’t a problem at all during the night. From our hut’s balcony, we enjoyed beautiful views of the limestone cliffs surrounding the area. While you get the full jungle experience, the resort is conveniently located just a short 10 minute walk from the town’s main strip.
The staff was incredibly easy to communicate with via email as we were planning our stay, always answering our plethora of questions very quickly and professionally. At the end of our stay, [the staff] drove us down to the Khao Sok bus stop free of charge.
Their offering of tours and outings is incredible as well. We enjoyed three trips: the Night Safari, Overnight Lake Trip, and Full Day Hike. For each tour, we were matched with very friendly and knowledgable local guides. Both the night safari and full day hike were excellent experiences, because they allowed us to venture in ways we would not have on our own. Had we not been accompanied by a guide on the full day hike, we certainly would not have traversed some of the narrower, steeper routes — some didn’t even look like trails! We’d certainly recommend hiking with a guide to get the most out of your hiking experience in Khao Sok. The highlight of our trip was the Overnight Lake trip to Cheow Lan Lake. The scenery is out of this world! The trip is well-organized, including a short hike to an incredible viewpoint, a boat safari, and plenty of time to enjoy the lake by swim or kayak. The food was always fresh and plentiful! We would love to do this again.
